I have heard cross country races sponsored by leading automobile companies,large tyre companies,Tobacco companies of the world.First time I came across a 1000 km race done on Auto Rikshaws or Tuk Tuks only by Foreigners in Madras.As eight teams from U.K,Germany,Australia and Norway were taking part in the Rickshaw Challenge Classic 2014 on a multiy city tour to see the glimpses of Rural India.
The event was partnered with Round Table India and the participants will be travelling from Chennai to Trivandrum.I noticed these bright coloured Autorikshaws driven by Foreigners when I was driving down in South Chennai on Saturday evening.I could not go personally to the start of the event on Sunday Morning.

I came to know that the participants were doing a training session in the busy streets of chennai on Saturday.This event has entered its 7 th year in a row and being conducted in many parts of India.I feel in this way one can promote Tourism and benefits the participants to interact with the locals,learn their living style and can taste different cuisine in the towns of their travel.
Many participants contribute to the RTI initiatives like Freedom Through Education and help the school children with Pencils,Note books and take the message to their countries. This event has gained wide acceptance in different parts of the world.This Travel for 10 days helps them to see the real people in small towns and villages and can have a lot of fun also.
The Major hurdle will be to learn to drive on the left side of the road and that was why the practise session was conducted in the city.The Hindu News Papers covered the event in great length and that is how I could collect some news for this event.
